3 Dives in Nusa Penida
It was the beginning of winter when we visited Bali which offered us an impressive cultural, spiritual and gastronomical experience and of course a great opportunity to explore its wonderful natural beauties. Many of these are hidden underwater so we took the chance to take a triple dive package in Penida island on a single day.
The boat trip to the island from Bali is about 40 min to reach the first location the Crystal Bay. There during the summer time August – September the Mola Mola fish appears in big number so the divers can see them and stay around these peaceful creatures for long. Unfortunately, we missed the chance because we were off season. But instead we saw a decent variety of the most loyal residents.
Then the next visit was at the Manta Point designated by the homonymous rays. That day the weather conditions had worsened with turbulence, clouds and winds but we were able to dive and meet the Mantas at close quarters in a shallow reef. They stayed around us and “flied” calmy and graciously and the spectacle was great even though the visibility was very poor.
The third dive took hold at the neighbour Lembongan island at a relative shallow terrain in waters that run like a river. During, this drift dive we saw plentiful life inside and around the corals of colorful fishes with the most distinguished presence the strapped sea snake (Laticauda Colubrina) which even though very venomous was really very calm and peaceful. The boat collected us after this long and effortless ride to return us back to Bali.
Diving in Bali is a must. There are so many options on dive sites, hundred diving centers well organized with easy booking, beautiful and fascinating sea bottoms with colorful coral formations and very rich in marine life. A underwater paradise for the divers of any level to explore.
